I grew up near and still live near Chicago, and may I say this city is one of my favorite cities in the world. Paris is first, then Chicago and Rome, both of which strike me as "masculine" compared to "feminine" Paris. I love Chicago's steel and the phallic heights of its landmarks.
ReplyDeleteI love the concept of a masculine city vs. feminine. I first heard of this comparison last summer and was at first confused. What makes a city either 'gender'? But it is a wonderful representation, visual. Yes. Chicago is masculine. I can see that. In the structure of the city, the way it's citizens behave, the general automosphere...where a city like Paris is more gental and dainty.
