An Artist
"What does it mean "to write well"?
An artist--using the word in its genuine rather than childish meaning-is not a craftsman who knows how to evenly distribute "lively images", "telling details of everyday life", "colorful landscapes", and other trifles in his books; an artist is the one who finds a rhythm unknown before, and enlives and permeates the world he has created by this rhythm."
-Nabokov
I love this...the way your hair is mirrored in the shadow on the wall, everything about it is beautiful. I've seen some of Mels work before and just love her images. I think the thing that's most striking is the way she uses brightness and colour in even a mundane street scene to draw the eye. I would imagine she's fun to work with, but quite serious too and much bothered about fancy stuff.
