An Artist
"What does it mean "to write well"?
An artist--using the word in its genuine rather than childish meaning-is not a craftsman who knows how to evenly distribute "lively images", "telling details of everyday life", "colorful landscapes", and other trifles in his books; an artist is the one who finds a rhythm unknown before, and enlives and permeates the world he has created by this rhythm."
-Nabokov
Nettie, you have lovely shoulders like a pair of white daisies that bookmark some strange and beautiful vision, an image that appears only at a moment when happiness is pure and genuine, then, disappears when sadness falls like at the end of a musical when the music has stopped and the actors and actresses depart from the stage, the lights fade to dim, and the props are left for the ghosts and the other visions of daisy-like fancy and dreams to take their place on the stage and pretend and remember when.
