An Artist
"What does it mean "to write well"?
An artist--using the word in its genuine rather than childish meaning-is not a craftsman who knows how to evenly distribute "lively images", "telling details of everyday life", "colorful landscapes", and other trifles in his books; an artist is the one who finds a rhythm unknown before, and enlives and permeates the world he has created by this rhythm."

"I stuck my hair in red paint so now I must sit in the corner and reflect," Annie said unconvincingly. "That's OK. Just so I get to wear my favorite tennies!" And I love your camisole, too, Nettie. So colorful! And I definitely cannot sit that way now. My knees would creak like an old door or shutters on a window in the wind by the summer sea.
